Why should we feel sympathy for someone that takes their own life because they couldn't handle a joke... Either way it is sad that she is now dead (by her own cause). I think I must of been sleeping under a rock but i have never herd of Anonymous before this prank call screw up. Im really liking your work and I hope you tear the radio stations apart. I seen there so called 'coming out of hiding ' interview last night on teli and every answer they gave was so rehearsed that I wanted to vomit over them both. Have a listen to the prank call. How any pom could think that pathetic accent was the queen is beyond belief, fair dinkum. In a country where you can tell what street you live in by your accent, how could they not pick a fake pommy accent, let alone the queens, Charles even the corgis aren't believable.
And the lady in question says one sentence & quickly transfers the phone.
There are other serious issues that were involved, thoughts are with those who loved her, may the others be exposed.

On second thoughts, the Prime Minister of Australia should take responsibility for the actions of the DJ's, and the governor-general, as the queens representative, should sack the entire government and order a snap election this weekend.
At least then all our problems will be solved.

How could anyone predict a simple prank call would end in a death? To even think that people can claim the DJ's have "blood on their hands" is beyond ridiculous. Use some common sense, if anyone is to blame it's the British and Austrian media for stirring such a small non-issue into a massive story the pressure of which is probably what led to the suicide.

There are 1000's of important issues in this world that need to be addressed this is not one.

Anonymous is an idea that should be used for more than petty issues, and certainly not for making criminals of the innocent.

both can be argued for any situation, all that should matter is the individuals point of view.

let those points of views collect together in one place and something will occur.

i feel that like in other situations there is much more to this story than what we have heard, that is inevitable. it is however my opinion that with the limited number of skilled members in the group, and a lot of them being arrested after being tracked, that it make more sense to focus on a larger objective. yes what the media did is wrong, yes it is also to a certain degree the failing of the medical system for not noticing one of their employees mental states, yes this is a cause worth highlighting, but it is not a cause to be put on the same level as any of the others. this situation has resulted in the loss of a persons life, and i fully hope that there are no more cases like this where people are dying or are close to dying due to the negligence of those on top.

you are the people and you make the calls, just think carefully before you make it. Aim for the ideal result and plan towards that goal, if you cant try just that much then you are already a victim of the system like that poor women. to those who feel for the women, do something to help another person. to those with skills willing to help, find a cause and follow it to the end. =)

The results of a simple radio show prank call could not have been forseeable however tragic the unpredictable outcome.Did the tv show Punk"d cause anyone harm, obviously it was intended to be a harmless radio show joke, why two people are unemployed as a result is beyond me, as the consequences dont follow logic.It wasnt even a security breach, how can a phone call be a security breach all that happened was we found out that a woman was dehydrated. I think this whole thread is going in the wrong direction.
Don't focus on her death. Yes, it's sad, but totally incidental in this whole debate. We will never know the exact cause or reason. It may or may not have been triggered by the radio hoax.
For all we know, she could have hung up from the call, had such a big laugh about what a dill she was and suffered a heart attack. Ok, a bit far fetched, but you know what I mean. We just don't know the cause.

What Anon should focus on is that what the radio station did was ILLEGAL. It is illegal to record someone without their permission.
Not only did they do that, but they then played the recording on air.
This is totally illegal in Australia. Privacy laws say so.
That's why when you call your bank or other service provider on the phone, they always warn you that "the call may be recorded" for training purposes etc.

The FACT is they BROKE THE LAW at the expense of someone else only for some cheap ratings. That disgusts me.

Firstly the prank - Get over it, it was someone calling the hospital with a terrible English accent pretending to be the Queen and Charles. It didn't go to far, to be honest it wasn't funny either but that isn't the point.

Secondly the media - The British and Australian media blew this so so far out of proportion that if you are looking to lay blame, this is where it should mostly be placed. It was a phone prank, on Aussie radio, this happens every day.

Thirdly the nurse - I may be misinformed but if this lady killed herself over transferring a call and then the idiot at the other end believing that this was the queen, she was quite clearly not stable, if anything the media had been laying blame on the hospital and nurse who GAVE the information not the one who transferred the call.

Lastly the hospital - These guys have to have some sort of procedure in place for dealing with this crap. If you are looking after someone as high profile as Kate and she is pregnant. Expect some twat to think it is funny to call and try to get info.

I do not support anon attacking anyone involved in this unless the British and Australian media as a whole is targeted.

If I have a medical issue, and I go to a hospital for treatment, I want the hospital staff to worry about MY HEALTH and giving the patients the best treatment. As a mother myself I have to say that transferring a phone call when I shouldn't have would never make me commit sucide and leave my son without a mother. This poor woman sounds like she might have had a serious depression issue. And no I don't believe the British Monarchy put a hit out on her.

Instead of targetting a radio station why not go after the Taliban for putting a hit out on a little girl and sending grown men onto a school bus to kill her - her only crime .... beilng a fellow actibvist. Seems that the mass media seem to be having an influence even over anonymous.

This is only a big story because of the Levinson investigation and the statement by the British government expressing an intrest in state controlled media. This is a sad and unfortunate event. no disrespect intended when i say that this poor women for sure had other issues going on in her life be it personal,family or socially. No one kills themselves for putting a call through to a nurse ( which is what she did, she never actually had a conversation with the DJ's. She answered the phone and put it through to a nurse.)
For sure it was something that she had in her mind beforehand. This maybe tipped the scales.

Now don't get me wrong, I'm not endorsing such activities as prank calls that might put whatever amount of pressure to certain people involved, like this one was.
I just think that it's a bit too much to say that those dj's are guilty of the woman's death.
In a certain country on this planet (and maybe in more than one single country) people commit suicide because they have debts of $1000 to a bank and their salaries) had been cut down by the government (if they work for the state) or by their private employers, or they had been laid off (kicked out) from their jobs.
Now this does not mean that the government or the employers are guilty for their deaths. Of course, the government and/or private employers are guilty of other things, such as not taking actions to raise the minimal wager (which is now around $220 USD per month/around 160 work hours). They are guilty of pushing people's limits, but they are not guilty because people are too weak to handle their problems.

About this radio station/stations. I wasn't even aware of this hoax until i stumbled upon this discussion here. I don't know if it's ok or not to DDoS them (internet, FM etc) or target them with anything. But my opinion is that there are a lot of things out there that are far more important than targeting a radio station that declared that it's going to help the poor woman's family.
It's like a fellow participant to this discussion said earlier. Just wait and see if they keep their promise. If they do, then I say leave them be. Their conscience is going to "target" them more than you, we or anybody else on this earth can target them.

Suicide comes as a result of people being stupid. This woman killed herself because some radio hosts decided to play a practical joke on her. That shows her own weakness. Targeting these hosts is just plain stupid.

The hospital didn't enforce security identification for royals - if you're not going to forgive, don't forgive their lack of protocol which led to this in the first place.

The radio station's managers and CEOs chose what to air. At the time it was just another prank call - shock humor, yes. Raising ratings with trash, yes. If you're not going to forgive, then don't forgive their revenue chasing.

The radio hosts were paid to do their job - make a prank call - if they're telling the truth when they say they're not involved in the editing of content (innocent until PROVEN guilty) then the nurse's unfortunate death is too far from a direct result to be worthy of wrath.

Why not ask the family of Jacintha Saldanha if this is what they want? If you take action to avenge her, you're exacting revenge which isn't yours to take.

while i do agree that the radio people were doing something wrong i don't think it can be blamed entirely on them. the small amount of time they talked to her and the the small act she did to help them makes me think there was more to this story. I personally believe she may have had some disorder that made this feel like it was way worse for her.

What of the co-workers who tormented the woman after she released information? What of the boss harassing her? I think they probably played as much of a role as the station. The fact is, if they hadn't emotionally beat her down, calling her an idiot etc., she probably wouldn't have committed suicide.

Oh, come on, has it come to this that Anonymous, an organisation that is supposed to be good for humanity, has instigated a witch hunt for anyone that has done anything that is anyhow related to anything that turns out bad? There is a point where accountability means something, but these DJs, nor their radio stations have any accountability as regards the suicide of that poor woman.

In fact, it rather much reminds me of what you have been fighting. Censorship. You do not want to control, or in any other way influence what anyone says or not says on a radio channel.

If you don't want to come off as hypocrites, stay away from bullying and censuring as far as you can.

This woman, bless her soul, probably did the best thing she thought possible in view of the media circus and ridicule that would have ensued had she still been alive. And seriously, how many of you would cope with being famous for all the wrong reasons???
